Late Night Tooth Extraction

Luda – Happy to Have Painful Wisdom Tooth Gone. One night Luda came home (to the family home) from work and couldn’t eat because her tooth hurt so much.  I’ve observed Russians are terrified of dentists, usually waiting as long as absolutely possible before making an appointment.  Luda’s tooth had turned black.  She had some money, Natasha had some, I chipped in the rest and she had the tooth extracted that night.  The bulk of the cost was the three numbing injections.  Here, after your first Novocain injection, the dentist asks you if you need any more.  A few minutes after her first shot the dentist asked, “Does it hurt?” when she said yes he gave her another.  Again he asked, “Does it hurt?” and gave her a third.  He extracted her tooth at 10:00 p.m. and she was still numb well into the morning.  The next day she said, “Last night was like a dream.  One minute I was sitting there eating dinner, and the next minute I was in the dentist chair having my tooth pulled.”  Natasha explained to me that because Russians worry so much about going to the dentist, it was better just to get it over with all at once like that.Luda (Unable to Speak) Wrote “Thank you” to Me for Helping Pay Dentist
